What inventions found a use far from their original purposes? Coca-Cola
Coca-Cola
In May 1886, a pharmacist in Atlanta, Georgia named Dr. John S. Pemberton created the first syrup for Coca-Cola. Soon after, Dr. Pemberton began advertising this new product, leading to runaway success.
Originally, Coca-Cola was intended to be used for medical purposes. However, little did Dr. Pemberton know in 1886, Coca-Cola would become an extremely popular drink across the globe not long after. Today, people in over 200 nations drink a combined 1.9 billion servings of Coca-Cola per day.
As more people noticed and began enjoying Coca-Cola, its initial purpose gradually expanded to incorporate much more. Although Coca-Cola can still make one feel better from having a sore throat and is often used to do so, its primary purpose is being a globally popular soft-drink.
