What invention makes you think "I wish I thought of that"?
Q: What invention makes you think "I wish I thought of that"?
I don’t know that I have ever really thought that way. I know many many times I have thought.. “Wow, that is a good idea, whomever came up with that is a smart cookie. Respect”.
I did once invent a better golf ball. Introduce a variety of dimple sizes, not all the same. I checked a ball from my bag, so see if it was already being done. The ball I grabbed was dirty, but sure enough… the dimples were all the same.
I knew that by introducing three sizes, instead of one, and arranging them in heaxes, with alternating hexes having the opposite size from the medium in between… air resistance would have a little help from harmonic turbulence, and the ball would sail through the air with more ease.
I decided to grab a second ball from my bag… a cleaner one so I could take a photo, and then onto the photo of my ball, photoshop in my envisioned changes.
Well… the newer ball, the cleaner and more expensive ball. Selected for its photogenic near perfection… it was instantly obvious… there was my innovative 3-size-hex-arranged-pattern. DOH!
One of many helpful patterns that are out there. Variations and patterns causing lift and spin.
It wasn’t that my sentiment became “I wish I thought of that”. Since I did.
It was more of a (while envisioning dollar bills flying out the window)… I wished I had thought of it sooner. Maybe 30 years or so. Before any others got around to it. Would have been some easy cash, getting the first patent on a better golf ball design.
